Privacy Policy

Rustubers.com ("Rustubers", "we", "us") is a directory of Rust YouTubers and streamers. This page explains what information we collect when you visit, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].

The short version

  • You can browse Rustubers without giving us any personal information.

  • With your permission, we use analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand how the site is used. You can say no, and change your mind any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. We don't use advertising cookies.

  • Some links to products are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission.

  • Creator profiles are built from public information. Creators can ask us to correct or remove theirs.

Information we collect

Analytics (only with your consent where required)

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 (loaded through Google Tag Manager) collects information such as the pages you visit, how you got here, your approximate location (country/city from your IP address), and your device and browser type. It sets the cookies ga and ga_<ID>. We use it only to understand how the site is used.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, analytics cookies are off until you accept. Elsewhere they're on by default, and you can turn them off in Cookie settings.

We use Google Consent Mode. When analytics cookies are off, Google Analytics may still receive basic signals without cookies (for example, that a page was viewed), which Google uses to estimate overall visit counts. It doesn't set cookies or identify you in that case.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you, so it's always on.

Cookies the site needs to work

These are always on, because the site can't work properly or securely without them. They don't track you across other sites.

  • rs_consent: remembers your cookie choice, for 12 months.

  • .AspNetCore.Antiforgery.*: a temporary security cookie on pages with forms, deleted when you close your browser.

  • __cf_bm: may be set by Cloudflare, which protects the site, to tell real visitors apart from bots.

  • On pages with a form, Google reCAPTCHA checks that you're not a bot. It may set its own cookie (_GRECAPTCHA) and sends information about your browser and how you use the page to Google.

Server logs

Like most websites, our server records each request, including your IP address, browser type and the page requested, for security and troubleshooting. These logs are kept for 30 days.

Information you send us

Submit a Creator form: the creator's name, bio and description, start date, setup and gear, content focus, languages, channel and social links (YouTube, Twitch, X, Discord, merch), and an optional business email. We use it to review the suggestion and, if we add the creator, to build their profile. It's stored in our database; the business email is never shown publicly.

Email: if you email [email protected], we use your message and email address only to reply.

Videos, streams and images from YouTube and Twitch

Creator pages show thumbnails, avatars and other images loaded directly from YouTube (Google) and Twitch (Amazon) image servers, so those companies see your IP address and browser information when the page loads.

Video and stream players are different: they only load when you click to play. YouTube videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Once a player loads, YouTube or Twitch may set their own cookies and collect information under their own privacy policies.

Affiliate links

Rustubers is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click an Amazon link on our site, Amazon may set cookies so it can tell us a purchase came from our link. We don't receive any information about you personally, only that a qualifying purchase happened. Amazon's privacy notice applies on Amazon's site.

Information about creators

Creator profiles are built from information creators publish themselves: their YouTube and Twitch channels (names, avatars, subscriber and view counts, video titles, stream activity), their public social links, and what they say in their own videos and descriptions. Facts we can't confirm are labelled as such or left out. We use AI (Google Gemini) to help draft profile text from this public information; every profile is reviewed by a person before it's published.

If you're a creator and something on your profile is wrong, or you'd like your profile removed, email [email protected] and we'll take care of it.

Why we use information (legal bases)

  • Analytics cookies: your consent (where consent is required).

  • Essential cookies, reCAPTCHA, server logs and Cloudflare protection: our legitimate interest in running a working, secure site and preventing spam and abuse.

  • Submissions and emails: our legitimate interest in reviewing suggestions and replying to you.

  • Creator profiles: our legitimate interest in running a directory of public Rust creators, balanced against creators' interests: we only use public information, and creators can ask for corrections or removal.

Who we share information with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that run the site:

  • Google: Analytics, Tag Manager, reCAPTCHA (form pages), YouTube images and players, and Gemini (public creator information only)

  • Amazon: Associates affiliate links, and Twitch images and players

  • Amazon Web Services: hosts the site in the United States (US East)

  • Cloudflare: protects and speeds up the site and provides cookieless visit statistics; all visits pass through it

  • SendGrid (Twilio): sends the site's notification emails

The site is hosted in the United States, and these companies may process information there. They provide their own safeguards for international transfers.

How long we keep information

  • Google Analytics data: 14 months.

  • Submissions and emails: we keep these until you ask us to delete them. Email [email protected] and we'll remove them from our database.

  • Your cookie choice: 12 months, after which we ask again.

  • Server logs: 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time (use Cookie settings, or clear your cookies). To make a request, email [email protected]. If you're in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Rustubers isn't directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use cookies, we'll ask for your choice again.
